THERAPY FOR INDIVIDUALS

One of my most fundamental and favorite beliefs is that each and every one of us has a unique life to be lived.

When we live this custom-made life, we find our greatest gifts, connections, and clarity.

Transitions and turning points are part of what makes our lives uniquely our own.  These times may come as a relationship’s end, grief, career changes or health concerns.  Alternatively, these times may be less of an event or milestone, and instead gentle (or not so gentle) nudges signaling opportunities for a new view of life and living.  Regardless of how or when transitions and turning points show up, they call us to further craft our life narratives in ways that align with who we want to be and how we want to connect with the world around us.

Together, we will make meaning of transitions and turning points and alleviate the stressors accompanying them, so you can embrace your custom-made, authentic life.

In addition to working with individuals negotiating transitions and turning points, I see clients who are experiencing issues including depression, anxiety, stress, relationship concerns, and grief.  My work experiences at Duke Cancer Center gave me a deep appreciation for the interconnectedness of body and mind, as well as the many creative and holistic treatment modalities reinforcing this connection.  These experiences also strengthened my beliefs that even very difficult experiences create opportunities for growth, guide us into new ways of being, and offer influential additions to our unique lives and the stories representing them.

I have a Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology and an M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I also have certificates in Jungian Psychology, Creative Grief Support, Complementary & Alternative Medicine, and advanced training in EMDR, meditation, and HeartMath.  The documented effectiveness of many of these approaches has encouraged my appreciation for the interconnectedness of body and mind.  Consequently, I often integrate holistic approaches such as mindfulness and somatic awareness with psychodynamic and narrative practices in my work with clients.
